Commissions

Post a request for proposal, compare artists’ proposals, award and accept a contract, then pay through a payment Yeja holds until you release it.

How A Commission Works

Commissions connects people who want a work made with artists who make it. A buyer posts a request for proposal (RFP), artists send proposals, the buyer awards one, both sides accept the contract, and the buyer pays. Yeja holds that payment until the buyer releases it to the artist.

Requesting A Commission

  • Choose Create at the top of the page, then New RFP. If an artist offers it on their Atelier, you can also choose Create an RFP there.
  • Describe the work: a title and description, a category, a budget range, dimensions, the deadline for proposals and your target date. You can attach reference files.
  • Choose who can see it: post it publicly so any artist can respond, or invite specific artists, either on Yeja or by email.
  • A draft stays private to your side until you open it for proposals.

Proposals And Contracts

Artists reply with a proposal: a cover note, a proposed budget and timeline, and any files. Each artist sends one proposal per RFP, and only the artist and the buyer can see it. When the buyer awards a proposal, Yeja creates a contract with the agreed budget and timeline. Each side then accepts it with a click. This is a timestamped acceptance, not a formal e-signature.

Paying And Releasing

Once the contract is accepted, the buyer pays the agreed amount by card, and Yeja holds it while the artist works. The artist must have payouts set up before the buyer can pay. When the buyer is happy with the delivered work, they release the payment and the artist receives it, less Yeja’s fees. The full amount is released at once; there are no milestone payments. See Pricing for fees.

Disputes

If something goes wrong while Yeja is holding the payment, either side can raise a dispute and explain why. Yeja’s team reviews it and can refund the buyer in full or in part, release the payment to the artist, or record a note without moving money. A contract can have one open dispute at a time. Once the payment has been released, it can no longer be disputed through Yeja.

Common Questions

Can I pay in instalments?

No. The buyer pays the full agreed amount once, Yeja holds it, and it is released to the artist in one payment.

Can other artists see my proposal?

No. A proposal is visible only to the artist who sent it and the buyer who posted the RFP.

Where can I track the proposals I’ve sent?

Look under RFP Submissions in your profile’s activity. Each proposal shows its status, such as submitted, under review, accepted or rejected.
