Provenance Passport And Verify

See who made a work, who owns it and its full history, and check an image file or a history yourself in your browser.

What the Passport Shows

Each artwork on Yeja has a Provenance Passport: a page with its creator, its current owner and its history. Anyone can open it without signing in. If the work isn’t public, visitors see This Passport Is Private. The Passport has five tabs:

  • Overview: the artwork, its artist, its Current Owner, its status and its file fingerprint.
  • Ownership Chain: every owner in order, how each one acquired the work and how it was recorded, such as Confirmed by Both Parties or Unrecorded Transfer.
  • Market History: Yeja auctions and sales, with an anonymous bid ladder. Accepted offers and sales outside Yeja show Price Private.
  • Timeline: every entry in the work’s history, newest first.
  • Verification: whether the history checks out, and its daily anchor on Base.

How To Open a Passport

  • Scan the QR code on a certificate, or open a Passport link someone shared with you.
  • Go to yeja-ai.com/verify and paste a link under Open by Link, or choose Scan a QR Code if your browser supports it.
  • If you are the artist, open the artwork in My Studio, choose the NFT & Provenance tab, then Open Passport.
  • Choose Share on a Passport to send its link.

Check an Image File

On Verify an Artwork, drop a file or use Choose File. Your browser computes the file’s fingerprint and compares it with registered originals; the file never leaves your device. Match Found links to the work with View Provenance Passport. Any edit, resize or re-export changes the fingerprint, so an altered copy shows No Match Found.

How Verification Works

  • Each history entry is recorded once and never edited. Its hash includes the hash of the entry before it, so changing or removing any entry breaks every hash after it.
  • The Passport recomputes those hashes in your browser and shows History Intact or Doesn’t Verify.
  • Each day’s entries are combined into one fingerprint and posted on Base. Anchored on Base links to that transaction, and View Proof shows the proof path. Recent entries show Anchor Pending until the next daily anchor.
  • Download Proof (JSON) saves the history and its anchor proof, so you can check it without trusting Yeja.

Privacy and Introductions

By default, an owner’s name is shown only to people in the work’s ownership chain. Everyone else sees Private Collector and a country. To reach a withheld owner, choose Request an Introduction. Yeja forwards your message, and the owner decides whether to reply or reveal themselves.

Common Questions

Do I need an account to verify an artwork?

No. Opening a Passport, checking a file and downloading the proof all work without signing in. You need to sign in only to report a duplicate.

What does Unrecorded Transfer mean?

The work’s token moved on Base with no sale recorded on Yeja. The history before that point still verifies. See Trust and Safety for what to do.

My file matches more than one registered work. What can I do?

Choose Report Duplicate, pick which work is the copy and send the report. A moderator reviews it; nothing changes on its own.

Can an artist correct a history entry?

No. Entries are permanent and can’t be edited or removed. To correct one, the artist adds a Note with Add to History on the artwork’s NFT & Provenance tab in My Studio.

What does Lineage Only, No Token Yet mean?

The artist hasn’t minted the work. Its history is still recorded by Yeja and anchored on Base daily.
