Connecting

World Galleries

Artists find and like galleries, verified galleries make the first contact, and artists book a visit from the gallery's open hours.

What World Galleries Is For

World Galleries connects artists with physical galleries. Artists browse galleries and show interest. Galleries reach out first, and once a gallery has messaged you, you can book a visit. The app has three views: Discover, Inbox and Bookings.

If your account is both an artist and a gallery owner, use Acting As on Discover to switch between Artist and Gallery. This browser remembers your choice.

Discover Galleries

  • Every registered gallery is listed, verified or not. Use All Galleries, Starred, Verified and Has Openings, or type a city or country into the filters. The search box in the top bar also finds galleries by name, city or country.
  • Has Openings shows galleries with an open visit slot in the next three weeks. Their cards show the next opening.
  • A gallery that isn't verified yet is marked as an unclaimed listing. Its address and website stay hidden until Yeja verifies it. Select Request to Join to ask for it to join Yeja and get verified. The number beside the button counts everyone who has asked.
  • Select a card to see the gallery's details, its Open Hours (next 3 weeks) in your own time zone, its current, upcoming and previous showings, and its Major Artists. Get Directions opens its location in Google Maps.
  • To report a gallery, open More options on its card and choose Report This Gallery.

Showing Interest As An Artist

Two buttons on each card are for artists only:

  • The heart likes the gallery. A like is public, and the gallery sees it in its inbox.
  • The bookmark saves the gallery to your Starred list. It isn't shown publicly, but the gallery does see it in its inbox, marked Favorited (private).

Only accounts with the Artist role can like a gallery, and there is a daily limit on likes and saves. You can't message a gallery first. If a gallery is interested too, it opens a conversation, and it appears in your Inbox.

Registering Your Gallery

Choose Create, then Register Your Gallery. Enter the gallery's name, website, city, country and time zone (the street address is optional), then select Register as a Gallery. This adds the Gallery Owner role to your account. You keep any other roles you have.

The same page holds the rest of your listing:

  • Verification Documents: upload a business registration document and a government ID for the gallery's representative. An admin reviews them, and they are never made public.
  • Location Photos: shown as a carousel on your gallery's page.
  • Showings & Exhibits: add a title and start date, and an end date once it closes. Yeja works out which showings are current, upcoming or previous from the dates.
  • Major Artists: artists you represent or work with. They don't need a Yeja account.
  • Connected Calendars: see Connecting Your Calendar below.

To return to this page later, select My Galleries on Discover, then select your own card. Delete Gallery Listing removes your listing, photos, showings and artists from Discover, removes the Gallery Owner role and resets your verification. Your Yeja account stays.

Verification

Artists can find your gallery as soon as you register, but you can message artists only after Yeja verifies it. Until then, a Verification pending banner shows two automatic checks:

  • Email domain match: your account email uses the same domain as your website. Free email addresses, such as Gmail or Outlook, never count as a match.
  • Places match: Google Places lists your gallery's name and address as an art gallery.

Select Run Verification Check to run both checks again after you change your details. The checks only help the review. They never approve or reject a gallery: an admin does. If your gallery isn't approved, the banner says so. Contact support if you think that's a mistake. You can't change your own verification status.

Galleries Make The First Move

As a gallery, your Inbox starts with Interested Artists: everyone who liked or saved your gallery, newest first. Select Initiate Contact to open a conversation with an artist. This is the only way a conversation starts, and only verified galleries can do it. Once the conversation exists, the button changes to Open Chat.

The artist can reply while the conversation is active. New messages appear for both of you without refreshing. If you send messages too quickly in one conversation, Yeja asks you to wait.

Booking A Visit

As a gallery, open Bookings to set when artists can visit:

  • Under Weekly Availability, choose a weekday, a start and end time and a slot length of 30, 60 or 90 minutes, then select Add Window. These times are in your gallery's time zone.
  • Under Block a Date, choose a date and an optional reason, then select Block Date. No visits can be booked that day.

As an artist, open Bookings and use Book a Visit:

  • Choose a gallery. Only galleries that have messaged you are listed.
  • Open times for the next three weeks appear in your own time zone. Select a time to book it.
  • If someone else booked that time first, you're asked to pick another.

Both sides see their bookings, split into upcoming and past or canceled. Either side can select Cancel on an upcoming booking.

Connecting Your Calendar

Galleries can connect Google Calendar under Connected Calendars on the registration page. Outlook Calendar isn't available yet.

  • Availability Calendar: busy times on this calendar hide your visit slots from artists.
  • Showings Calendar (Optional): each event becomes a showing on your gallery page. It never blocks visit slots, so it must be a different calendar from your availability calendar.
  • Confirmed Yeja bookings are added to your availability calendar automatically.
  • Choose what happens if a booking's event is deleted or moved in your calendar: restore the event and keep the booking, or cancel the booking too.

Sync Now syncs right away, and Disconnect stops the two-way sync. If Google access is revoked, select Reconnect.

Common Questions

Can I message a gallery first?

No. Galleries make the first move. Like or save a gallery to show interest. If the gallery is interested too, it opens a conversation and you can reply.

Why can't I message artists from my gallery?

Only verified galleries can start a conversation. Upload your verification documents and run the verification check. An admin then reviews your listing.

Does verification happen automatically?

No. The email domain and Google Places checks help the review, but an admin approves or rejects every gallery.

Why is a gallery's address hidden?

The gallery isn't verified yet. Its address and website stay hidden until Yeja verifies it. Select Request to Join to ask for it.

Can a gallery see that I saved it?

Yes. A saved gallery isn't shown publicly, but the gallery sees it in its list of interested artists, marked as private.

Why can't I book a visit?

You can book only with a gallery that has messaged you, and only at times it has opened. If no times show, the gallery has no open slots in the next three weeks.

What time zone are visit times shown in?

Your own. Open hours and bookings are shown in your device's time zone. Galleries set their weekly hours in the gallery's time zone.

Can I connect Outlook Calendar?

Not yet. Only Google Calendar can be connected today.
