Duplicate Finder

My Studio's Duplicate Finder groups works that look like copies of each other. Nothing is removed until you choose to keep both, mark editions or move copies to Trash.

Where To Find It

Duplicate Finder appears among My Studio's views only when it has found possible copies. Its count shows how many groups there are to review. When nothing is found, it stays hidden. See My Studio.

How Copies Are Found

Each group is labeled with how its works match:

  • Same File: the files are identical. This also catches works you uploaded long ago.
  • Looks the Same: the same picture saved differently, for example resized or recompressed. Yeja compares a fingerprint taken from each image when you upload it, and the group shows how many bits apart the fingerprints are.
  • Looks Similar: a likely crop, small rotation, flip or black-and-white copy. These groups say Possibly cropped or rotated.

Videos are compared by their poster frame. Works in Trash aren't checked. Each group is built around one work and holds only works that match it directly.

Which Work Is Suggested

Each group marks one work as Suggested to keep. Yeja prefers, in this order: a work that can't be removed, a published work, the earliest upload, then the larger image. Select Keep on another work to choose it instead.

What You Can Do

Nothing is deleted or merged by the Duplicate Finder on its own. You decide for each group:

  • Move Others to Trash moves the other works in the group to Trash. Only works that directly match the one you keep are moved.
  • Keep Both marks the works as separate, and they aren't suggested together again.
  • Mark as Editions opens a sheet where you set one Edition Size and give each work its own Edition Number. Select Save Editions. The works aren't suggested together again.
  • Resolve All keeps the suggested work in every group and moves the others to Trash, after you confirm.

Works moved to Trash can be brought back: open the work in Trash and select Restore.

Works That Can't Be Removed

Sold works, minted works, works with an open order, and works in a scheduled or live auction are never moved to Trash from the Duplicate Finder. They're marked with a lock and the reason. If every other work in a group is protected, Move Others to Trash is turned off.

Copies Across Accounts

Yeja staff also look for likely copies between different accounts. A person reviews each one. Nothing is suspended or removed automatically, and owners aren't told about each other's works. If staff suspend or remove a copy, its owner is notified.

Common Questions

Will the Duplicate Finder delete my work?

No. It only suggests groups. Works move to Trash only when you select Move Others to Trash or confirm Resolve All, and you can restore them from Trash.

Why don't I see the Duplicate Finder?

It appears only when it has found possible copies. If it is hidden, nothing in your studio looks like a copy right now.

Two works are different pieces. How do I stop them showing up?

Select Keep Both. They are marked as separate works and aren't suggested together again.

They are prints from the same edition. What should I do?

Select Mark as Editions, set the edition size and give each work its own number, then select Save Editions.

Why can't I move a work to Trash from here?

It is sold, minted, has an open order or is in a scheduled or live auction. Those works are always kept.

Does it find duplicate videos?

Yes. Videos are compared by their poster frame, and identical files are found whatever their type.

Can other artists see that my work matches theirs?

No. Copies between accounts are reviewed only by Yeja staff, and owners aren't told about each other's works.
