Refunds And Disputes

How refunds work for orders, offers, commissions and fundraisers, what happens when a buyer disputes a payment with their bank, and how to ask for a refund.

Asking For A Refund

Refunds are made by the Yeja team. There is no refund button in the app. To ask for one, open the account menu, choose Help & Support, then Contact Support. Pick Get Help, choose the area under Which Part Of Yeja?, and describe the order or payment. See Contact Support.

Order Refunds

When the Yeja team refunds an order, the following happens:

  • The order shows Refund Pending in Your Orders until Stripe confirms the refund, then Refunded.
  • The buyer gets back the price of that piece plus its share of shipping. Other pieces bought in the same checkout are not refunded.
  • The seller's credit for that sale is taken back from their Wallet balance.

Only an order that is paid, packed, shipped or completed can be refunded. If a piece sells to someone else while you are paying for it, your payment for that piece is refunded automatically and the order shows Refunded.

Offer Refunds

An offer paid in installments is refunded as a whole. A refund of an offer does the following:

  • It refunds every installment the buyer paid and cancels the ones still to come.
  • The offer is marked Refunded in the Wallet, so nothing bills the buyer or asks them to pay again.
  • Each refunded payment takes back the seller's credit for that payment.
  • The order shows Refund Pending until every paid installment is refunded, then Refunded.

An offer can be refunded once any payment on it has been made, even if the plan isn't finished. See Offers And Installments.

Bank Disputes

If a buyer disputes a payment for an Art Board purchase with their bank, the seller's credit for that sale is held from their balance until the dispute is decided, and Yeja emails the seller. If it is decided in the seller's favor, the amount is released back to the balance. If not, it stays taken back. A seller's Wallet Home shows this amount under Held by Disputes.

Commission Disputes

While Yeja holds a commission payment, either side can raise a dispute. The Yeja team reviews it and settles it in one of four ways:

  • Full refund: the buyer gets the whole payment back and the contract is canceled.
  • Partial refund: the buyer gets the agreed part back. The artist receives the rest, less Yeja's fee on that rest, and the contract is completed.
  • Release: the dispute is dismissed, and the buyer releases the payment to the artist as usual.
  • Note only: no money moves, and the contract goes back to active for the two sides to settle.

Whoever raised the dispute gets a notification with the outcome, unless they turned that notification off. Once a payment has been released, it can no longer be disputed through Yeja. See Commissions.

Fundraiser Refunds

If an all-or-nothing (Fixed) campaign misses its goal by its end date, every backer is refunded in full. Yeja closes ended campaigns once a day, so refunds start within a day of the end date. On a Flexible campaign, the artist keeps what is raised and nothing is refunded automatically. See Fundraisers.

Common Questions

How do I ask for a refund?

Contact the Yeja team through Help & Support: choose Contact Support, then Get Help, and describe the order or payment.

Why does my order say Refund Pending?

The refund has been sent to Stripe and is waiting for Stripe to confirm it. The order changes to Refunded once it does.

Is shipping refunded too?

Yes. An order refund returns the price of the piece plus its share of the shipping you paid.

Can a payment plan be refunded before it is finished?

Yes. Every installment paid so far is refunded, and the ones still to come are canceled, so you are not charged again.

What happens to the seller's balance after a refund?

The credit the seller received for each refunded payment is taken back from their Wallet balance.

What happens if a buyer disputes a payment with their bank?

For an Art Board purchase, the seller's credit for that sale is held until the bank decides. It is released if the seller wins the dispute.

Do backers get refunded if a fundraiser misses its goal?

On an all-or-nothing campaign, yes: every backer is refunded in full after the end date. On a flexible campaign, the artist keeps what is raised.

Can I dispute a commission payment after it was released?

No. A dispute is possible only while Yeja is still holding the payment.
